Chula Vista Native to Perform in Disney on Ice

Chula Vista native Azul Diaz will prove this week that dreams do come true. Diaz, a graduate of Chula Vista High, will perform at Disney on Ice at the Pechanga Arena.
Diaz began ice skating at just 9 years old. She practiced on a regular basis at local ice rinks such as UTC. After graduating from high school, she auditioned for Feld Entertainment, the owner of Disney on Ice, and got the seal of approval.
“It’s a literal dream come true,” Diaz said. “After every Disney on Ice show I watched here in San Diego, I would tell my mom and dad that one day that would be me, and now it is. To perform in the same arena where my dream was made is a blessing.”
The latest Disney on Ice production, “Magic in the Stars,” will be in town until Jan. 26. The show will tell the story of Disney favorites, “Wish,” “Raya and the Last Dragon,” and “Frozen” among others. Of course, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy will also make appearances.
“The best part about this show is the number of things you’ll be able to see in just one performance,” Diaz said. “You’ll be able to see over 50 Disney characters, 12 stories, and awe-inspiring tricks, and you’ll even get to see your favorite characters fly. Nothing is more magical than this.”
The best part about performing – particularly in her hometown? Bringing magic to life.
“What I love most about performing for Disney on Ice is bringing people’s favorite stories to life and bringing the magic to these fantastic cities I’ve been able to perform in and experience myself,” Diaz said.
