Art of Elan is returning to the Institute of Contemporary Art San Diego’s Central campus to present a program entitled “A Collective Breath.”

For over 17 years, Art of Elan has brought classical music to a range of audiences across San Diego. The upcoming concert is inspired by Hush, a dreamlike new exhibit by Dutch artist Afra Eisma, which opened Saturday at ICA.

“A Collective Breath,” set for Feb. 23, will debut an Art of Elan-commissioned work written by the New York-based composer and multi-instrumentalist Christina Courtin, as well as additional works by Shulamit Ran and Anna Clyne.

Violinist Kate Hatmaker and cellist Alex Greenbaum will perform Courtin’s composition.

The program for the evening includes:

Grazyna Bacewicz: Quartet for 4 Violins
Ran: East Wind
Clyna: The Violin (excerpts – Ship of Stars and Resting In The Green)
Alyssa Morris: Collision Etudes
Courtin: In the Interest of Communication (world premiere commissioned by Art of Elan)
